Our Internship cum Placement Program for UG engineering students across India

The objective of Program Utkarsh is to identify and recruit aspirational undergraduate engineering students who demonstrate ‘passion’ for designing and engineering best in class automotive products and processes in TVS Motor Company.
We work actively with reputed engineering colleges in India which meet our expectations in terms of entry criteria & standards, aspiration & engagement of student community, curriculum, pedagogy & infrastructure, placement & certifications. Colleges are evaluated by a rigorous quality audit by a specialist committee. Typically 15-20 colleges are invited to participate every year.
Eligible students from the selected colleges are invited to apply online (typically in December) every year. Applicants are evaluated for both functional & behavioral competencies through a multi-stage assessment system.
On an average, 40 students are selected for Program Utkarsh out of 1000+ applicants every year.
Interns are assigned challenging projects based on their area of interest and experience. The project charter is sent out to interns to enable them prepare for the internship adequately. Projects in the core domains of R&D, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, QA/QC, SCM and Sales and Customer Service are offered to the interns. TVSM managers and domain experts mentor the interns both in the pre-internship preparatory phase and during the actual internship in TVSM, Hosur. Interns are also supported by way of offering up the vast online knowledge library of TVSM for research & reference purposes.
The internship under Program Utkarsh is for a duration of 6 – 8 weeks. The internship is scheduled to coincide with the inter-semester break (between 6th and 7th Semester) of most Indian universities. Program Utkarsh team works very closely with the college placement officers to plan the dates for internship. Interns are expected to plan and manage their daily work to enable timely delivery of targets assigned. The internship adheres to a well-planned schedule which include initial orientation, periodic review of progress and periodic interactions with TVSM managers. Internship schedule is tightly managed by HR to deliver best value to both interns and their managers.
Interns are evaluated on a continuous basis throughout the duration of the internship. A multi-stage, multi-rater feedback from both managers and external independent assessors, give us a well-rounded assessment of the intern – both in terms of Functional & Behavioral competencies.
At the end of the internship, interns walk away with the prized ‘PPO’ and immense learning value by working on technically challenging projects, all the while guided by experienced professionals and managers of TVSM.
All interns who successfully complete their internship assignments receive a certificate recognizing their efforts and a detailed summary of their performance, which would help them asses themselves better for making right career choices.
Interns are also welcome to request further assistance in terms of recommendation letters, work credit certificates and equivalents from TVSM.
